HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Seven Suns features experienced Hawaiian and Polynesian musicians who, after backing up popular bands and recording artists, are now stepping into the spotlight.
“I think the premise of the whole thing was, like, especially after COVID, we really wanted to be more intentional about our time, like, who we spend our time with, what we spend our time doing, what kind of music we make, and what better way to do it than with your best friends?” said Pimental.
Members are busy with their own lives and scattered across the country — Young lives in Nashville while Tupuola-Aiono lives in San Diego — so they record their sections individually and collaborate over Zoom.
Miguel explained, “It’s kind of cool, because we bring individuality to the music itself. So as the music kind of progressed, we realized that there’s no really one genre that we can kind of stick to. There’s a little bit of reggae. There’s a little bit of rock. There’s a little bit of R&B, a lot of ’80s and ’90s influence. And as we all contribute to these songs, there was really no one thing that we tried to shoot for. Everybody offered up what they felt and what they believed in, and it all made the track.”
Seven Suns released their full-length album, “Many Feathers,” on Nov. 8 via Ineffable Records.
